So here we are, deep into September, so I think it’s time to explore this month’s birthstones.
The three most popular stones associated with those born in September are Sapphire, which is the traditional birthstone and alternatively Lapis Lazuli and Moonstone, bringing an array of colours and energies to wear and enjoy.
Sapphires have long been admired for their beauty, energy, and power. In fact, in ancient Greece it was a preferred stone to wear when consulting the Oracle of Delphi. In more modern times it is often associated with intelligence, wisdom, clarity, creativity and focus. But all of that aside it can also be appreciated solely for its beauty. The blue Sapphire is what first comes to mind when someone mentions this gem, however it also forms in a rainbow of other colours, and when they are facet cut they have a magnificent sparkle.
Now, moving on to Lapis Lazuli, this stone is primarily an opaque blue and is associated with the throat chakra where the blue colour vibrations are thought to open up this area, promoting clear communication and speaking your truth. It is also thought to stimulate the third eye, bringing wisdom and clarity of thought. Lapis Lazuli is a beautiful stone to wear and is a great choice when attending social or business functions where good communication is imperative.
Moonstones bring a rather different energy and are associated with new beginnings. This stone has always been a favourite of mine, and years ago, before I knew the meaning, I wore a collection of beautiful moonstone jewellery on the day I got married, so maybe I sensed this energy even though I didn’t know it consciously. Mind you the marriage is well and truly over now, but the jewellery has lasted. It’s soft, milky tones are reflective of feminine, nurturing energy and love and hope, making it a beautiful stone to wear.
Happy birthday September birth people.
